Compliance & Certification

Different markets impose different rules for UAV/UAS trade — from platform-level security designations to product certification and export control. HF Trading helps partners understand these requirements early, so components and systems can move into target markets legally, predictably, and without costly delays.

Our compliance coverage spans the United States, European Union, India, Japan, and Taiwan, reflecting the primary markets our partners currently source into.

1. Blue UAS & Green UAS (United States)

Blue UAS is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) list of commercial drone platforms that have passed cybersecurity, supply chain, and component-level vetting, making them eligible for use by U.S. government agencies and DoD-affiliated programs.
Green UAS, administered through AUVSI, extends a similar vetting framework to a broader range of public-safety and commercial operators outside the DoD list.

2. EU Market Access — CE Certification

Placing UAV products on the EU market requires CE marking, which confirms conformity with applicable EU regulations — including the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), EMC requirements, and, depending on drone class, the EU Drone Regulation (EU 2019/947 / 2019/945) operational and product categories (C0–C6).
HF Trading works with partners to identify which CE requirements may apply to a given component or finished platform, and coordinates with qualified test labs and suppliers on technical documentation to support Declarations of Conformity and labelling ahead of shipment into the EU.

3. India Market Access — BIS / ISI / CRS

Many electronic and electrical components sold into India fall under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), requiring registration and, where applicable, the ISI mark before products can be legally sold or imported.
HF Trading helps partners assess whether a given UAV component (batteries, chargers, electronic modules, etc.) may fall within BIS/CRS scope, and works with suppliers on the related registration and documentation process, where applicable, to support entry into the Indian market.

4. Japan Market Access — Certification & Registration

UAV components and platforms entering Japan may be subject to Radio Law certification for wireless modules, Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (PSE) requirements for relevant electrical components, and drone-specific registration through Japan's DIPS (Drone/UAS Information Platform System) for airframe and operator registration.

HF Trading helps partners identify which of these requirements may apply to their specific product scope and works with suppliers on related documentation to support market entry into Japan.

5. Taiwan Export Control — SHTC (Strategic High-Tech Commodities)

Taiwan regulates the export of Strategic High-Tech Commodities (SHTC)  — a category that can include UAV-related components and dual-use technologies — under its Foreign Trade Act and related export control regulations, administered by Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT).

HF Trading follows Taiwan's SHTC export control requirements as part of its own operating process — including classification checks, end-user/end-use documentation, and export licensing where applicable — to support compliant outbound shipment from Taiwan.

6. CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification)

CMMC is the U.S. Department of Defense's cybersecurity compliance framework for contractors and suppliers handling Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) across the defense supply chain. For UAV/UAS programs connected to U.S. government or defense-adjacent buyers, CMMC alignment is increasingly a prerequisite for doing business.

HF Trading supports partners by maintaining awareness of CMMC-relevant handling practices across our sourcing and documentation processes, and by helping identify which parts of a supply chain may fall within CMMC scope for a given program.

7. U.S. Government Dual-Check Process

UAV and UAS transactions connected to U.S. buyers — particularly government, defense, or critical-infrastructure end users — are subject to heightened scrutiny, including end-user verification, restricted-party screening, and component-origin checks (e.g., avoidance of covered foreign entities under U.S. procurement restrictions).

HF Trading follows an internal dual-check process aligned with these expectations: reviewing both supplier-side component origin and buyer-side end-use/end-user information before a transaction proceeds, as part of our effort to keep pace with current U.S. government requirements.

Information on this page reflects HF Trading's current understanding of relevant market requirements and is provided for general guidance. Requirements vary by product, destination, and end use, and may change — please contact us for the latest guidance applicable to your specific project.
